The florals in Invasive Repeat feature banana poka, lantana and the octopus tree, some of Hawai‘i’s most invasive plants. Hidden in the negative space of each vignette are three endangered endemics: Lobelia gaudichaudii; koki‘o (Kokia drynarioides) and ‘aku‘aku (Cyanea platyphylla). Also hidden are native birds, key pollinators who have developed a symbiotic relationship with these endemics and whose survival is inextricably linked to theirs.
