Field Box is titled for its resemblance to scientific field kits that were taken out into nature to collect data and record observations. This valise contains six miniature landscapes painted on log slices. Six magnifying lenses with handmade handles are included to let viewers examine details and record measurements. Lux Art Institute commissions portable works of art that double as interdisciplinary teaching tools. The valises travel to hundreds of classrooms in the San Diego area each year.
